ALBUM ARTWORK: Anthony Callea

Capturing Music Magic: A Memorable Photoshoot with ARIA Award Winner Anthony Callea

As a commercial advertising photographer in Sydney, I've had the privilege of working with some incredible talents over the years. One particular photoshoot that stands out in my memory is the one I did with ARIA award winner Anthony Callea back in 2011 for his EP album cover "Last To Go." Today, I want to take you on a journey behind the scenes of that unforgettable day in Melbourne, where we captured the essence of Anthony's music in both studio and outdoor settings.

The White Space Studio: Where Creativity Flourishes

The stage was set at "The White Space Studio" in Melbourne, a place known for its artistic vibes and ideal for capturing the essence of Anthony's EP. The studio offered a blank canvas, allowing us to experiment with different lighting and angles to create visually captivating images that would resonate with his fans.

Adding an Urban Edge: Exploring Melbourne's Alleyways

To infuse an urban feel into the shoot, we ventured outside the studio into Melbourne's atmospheric alleyways. These locations provided a contrast to the pristine studio shots and added an edgy, cityscape backdrop to the visuals. Anthony's presence against the gritty urban environment created a striking juxtaposition that perfectly reflected the theme of his EP.

A Memorable Lunch with Anthony and Tim Campbell

After the photoshoot wrapped up, Anthony and his husband, Tim Campbell, were kind enough to take me to lunch. It was a chance to relax, reflect on the day's creative journey, and get to know the incredible people behind the music. Their warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression on me.

A Heartfelt Surprise: A Package from Anthony

Two months after the shoot, I received a package in the mail from Anthony Callea. Inside was a signed hard copy of the "Last To Go" EP, a poster featuring the album cover we had created together, and a heartfelt thank-you letter. It was a touching gesture that reminded me of the power of collaboration and the impact our work as artists can have on others.

Working with Anthony Callea on the "Last To Go" EP photoshoot was an unforgettable experience. It allowed me to blend my passion for photography with the world of music, creating visuals that would resonate with fans and stand the test of time. Anthony's genuine appreciation for the collaboration was the icing on the cake, reinforcing the importance of meaningful connections in the world of art.

As a commercial advertising photographer in Sydney, I continue to be inspired by such experiences, and I look forward to more exciting collaborations that allow me to push the boundaries of creativity. Whether it's capturing the essence of a musician's work or helping a brand tell its story, photography remains a powerful medium for storytelling and connection.
